Director Sasi Mohan is currently directing a bilingual film in Tamil and Malayalam named 'Sabharimalai Shree Ayyappan'. Kaushik Babu stars as Ayyappan in this film. National Award winning actress Priyamani and Mamtha Mohandas play the heroines.  According to a press release issued by the producers of the film Anaswara Charitable Trust, a major highlight of the movie would be a seven minute glorification song on Ayyappan.  The press release also states that films on Ayyappan have hitherto been based on short incidents. 'Sabharimalai Shree Ayyappan' on the contrary would showcase a lengthy story that correlates to the spirit of Ayyappan.. Devotees throng Sabharimalai from November to January and the film would be a great joy for all the devotees.  Mohini, Thilagan, Biju Menon and many more also feature in the cast.

In one of the most surprising newsbreak of the year,''In Harihar Nagar, the super hit film of the nineties is soon going to have a sequel. The original movie directed by hit duo - Siddhique - Lal in their early days, was one of the best youth films of the decade which was later remade in many other languages.  Any Guess, on who is going to add a sequel to the movie? If the initial news about the project are to be believed, it is non other then actor - producer Lal, the integral part of original duo Siddique - Lal, who is going to debut as an independent director with the movie. This sequel will also be produced by Lal himself. The other details about the cast and crew are awaited.

Mohanlal celebrated his thirty years in filmdom, in the sets of his new film 'Red Chillies'. A group of his friends including Ashokumar, who was the director of his first film 'Thiranottam' and Sureshkumar, one of his friends who made the clap for the first shot of lal, attended the function, which was held at the FACT, Eloor.
  
 "I am really excited and happy with this small function at the sets of my new film. And that too, when i am amidst my very old friends who were with me all these years, I am overwhelmed," said the actor.
  
 Mohanlal faced the camera for the first time on the third of September, 1978 for 'Thiranottam', a film which was never screened. Two years after this film came his villain in the mega box office hit 'Manjil Virinja Pookal' and thereafter he managed to be in business for the next five years doing every role that came his way. In 1986 came Rajavainte Makan, which catapulted him to the throne of the super star. With the successive hits in Irupathaam Noottandu and Bhoomiyile Raajakanmmar, there was no looking back for this versatile actor who is the most popular star of Kerala, even after 23 years from these films.
  
 Many from the industry including Shaji Kailas, Jagadheesh, Biju Menon, S N Swamy, ManianPillai Raju, and Rejapurthra Renjith were the other few who were also seen in the function.

Shahid Kapur injured six times on sets ofKaminay Bollywood actor Shahid Kapur has suffered the maximum number of injuries so far on the sets of Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminay.  "Shahid has got injured six times. First he had hurt his wrist and had to be rushed to the physiotherapist. In another scene that involved skidding, Shahid got badly bruised. He has just been getting one injury after another," said a source close to the actor.  Earlier, both Shahid and co-star Priyanka Chopra fell off a bike while shooting for the film in Pune. The two were riding the bike on a slope that was slightly muddy when the two-wheeler skidded and fell on top of them.  Both actors received bruises and cuts.

In his latest film, Guru En Aalu, Vivek dons the role of a woman in a crucial scene in the film.   After a small gap, Vivek has bounced back as the busiest comedian in Kollywood with a handful of films in his kitty.  Speaking from Palani where he is shooting forMakane Marumakane, Vivek told : “When I was asked to do this crucial scene where I had to accompany Maddy to Dubai as a lady, I readily agreed. We had real fun during the make-up session and later for the shoot. I had waxed my whole body and my make-up man Chandru did a wonderful job”.  Guru En Aalu is fun filled musical comedy (a remake of Yes Boss from Hindi) and the combination of Maddy and Vivek is back after a few successful films like Run.  Vivek does a spoof of Shriya in the Oru Koodai Sunlight… song from Sivaji (see pic), Sobhana inDalapathy and Saroja Devi in the Chittu Kuruvi…song.  Adds Vivek: “I play Maddy’s friend and when I am in dressed as a lady, one of the villain MS Bhaskar falls hook-line-sinker for me, which is sure to bring the house down”. Guru En Aalu is getting ready for release during Diwali.


Last week Ilayathalapathy Vijay, director Prabhu Deva and a couple of fighters left for Bangkok to shoot a deadly action scene along with Chinese fighters for Ayngaran International's Villu.   The film is almost 70 percent complete, and is said to have come out well. These days Vijay keeps on praising Prabhu Deva and his commitment and dedication to his work. Three more songs of the film are being planned and it will be in some exotic foreign location.   Villu will be ready for release for Pongal 2009, on January 14, Vijay and Prabhu Deva's lucky day when their super hit Pokkirireleased two years back.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt is having a whale of a time in Bangkok. He has hired a 40-foot-long luxury catamaran for his close friends while he shoots for the thriller Blue.  Sanjay, who is known for his generous ways, invited his closest friends to join him and wife Maanyata in Bangkok to party and relax while the underwater adventure Blue was being shot in the middle of the ocean. The action thriller directed by Anthony D'Souza also stars Zayed Khan and Akshay Kumar.  And to make sure his friends have a great time in the ocean, Sanjay hired the yacht and all his buddies are housed in it.  When contacted, Sanjay said: "Who told you about this? It's true. All my close friends are here with me. Paresh is here from Chicago. Matt has come from Los Angeles and Raja and Pradeep came from Mumbai. So we're shooting and having fun. It's more for my own happiness than of my friends."  Director Apoorva Lakhia, who had cast Sanjay in his successful crime-thrillerShootout At Lokhandwala, can't stop raving about the experience.  "Sanju is a rock star. You've heard right. He has rented a 40-foot catamaran with the full crew on board for all his friends' comfort. We all hang out in the middle of the ocean while the cast is shooting in the deep sea," said Lakhia.  "It's non-stop deep sea diving, music, snorkelling and barbeque in the middle of the bluest ocean god ever invented. This is the most thrilling holiday I've ever had," he added.  Also joining the merry gang of Sanjay's friends is Zayed Khan's wife Mallika. Buddy Suniel Shetty is busy shooting, or else he too would have joined the Bangkok merrymakers.  "The friends that I have now are with me for keeps," said Sanjay.

21 years after its release in 1987, Mohanlal has confirmed that he is going to do a sequel to his Irupatham Nootandu.    It is one of his most successful films of all time as an action hero. The sequel taken from his character name from the film Sagar alias Jackie, will be directed by Amal Neerad and produced by Antony Perumbavoor.   The original written by S.N Swamy and directed by K.Madhu was a racy entertainer. It had Mohanlal playing Jackie alias Sagar, a smuggler who partners with the Chief Minister's son Sekharan Kutty played by Suresh Gopi.   Later they fall out and when friends turn enemies it is always bitter. It had a spectacular climax scene where Mohanlal guns down Suresh Gopi who is protected by large number of security men at an airport.   Irupatham Nootandu made at a cost of Rs 16 lakhs went on to make a distributors share of Rs. 1.60 crore those days for its producers Aroma Mani. It also made Mohanlal a superstar.  Now S.N Swamy, has written a new script in which Sagar alias Jackie after shooting dead the Chief Minister's son escapes from India and arrives in Dubai.  He slowly rises up the ladder, to become the don of Dubai. New international problems arise for Jackie, who still controls Kerala politics sitting in Dubai. How he sorts them out is the story in a nutshell.  Mohanlal confirmed that he is starting the film from January 1, 2009. The others in the cast are being worked out. Says Antony Perumbavoor, the producer of the film: " It will be a very stylish movie, with lots of spectacular action scenes. We are planning to shoot the film in Dubai, and I'm sure Amal Neerad will make it racy and entertaining. The film will be Lal sir's Vishu 2009 release."
