It's not just the pleasure of working with his favourite co-star—alright, second-favourite co-star after wife Aishwarya—that made the latest Abhishek-Rani film Laaga Chunari Mein Daag special.Enthuses Abhishek from Namibia where he's shooting for Goldie Behl's Drona, “I got to work with mom (Jaya). I had done a cameo in a Bengali film as her son. Mom and Pa are two different actors and human beings, they’re both unique actors. It's a sheer pleasure to share screen space with mom. I hope to do as many films with her as I've done with Pa." Ask him what's the main difference between working with his two parents, and Abhishek ponders, "In-between shots Pa and I chill out and have fun. Ma is constantly mothering and fussing over me when the camera is switched off. Though I pretend not to like it I secretly love it." There was big-time bonding on the sets with co-star Kunal Kapoor. "Kunal and I grew up together. He belongs to the same Juhu circle that I do. He's a terrific guy and an even better actor. His performance in our new film will surprise a lot of people. I also admire Konkona and got to work with her for the first time. She’s great fun." As for director Pradeep Sarkar, "I did a number of ads with him before I finally got to be in a feature film with him. His zest for his work in unparalleled. I saw no difference in his enthusiasm level on sets of our feature film. I want to work with him again," Abhishek ends from Namibia.
Aishwarya in no angle looks like any of what she has done before, neither the Dhoom’s ‘R U checking me out?’ nor the Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’s Nandini. One look at her and you are bound to rush to your history books to recall this face. Such is the impact of her get-up. She does not even have to utter a word, coz’ her mesmerising eyes do all the talking. In short, everything about her is just sooooo perfect! And as far as Hrithik is concerned, less said the better, coz’ one just cannot improve perfection. All that one can say about this man is that he can not only defy gravity, but also history and its characters! Keeping the exaggeration factor aside, if one has to speak a few words about him, then, the most fitting tribute to this man in this film would be that ‘Akbar has got a face in Hrithik’. All in all, one is simply left wondering if a mere poster can do so many miracles at the same time, imagine what an entire 3-hour movie can do!
Emerging in the early 70s as the angry young man, he still sways the box office. Amitabh Bachchan, who turns 65 Thursday, has rewritten the rules of superstardom in Hindi film industry. No other actor has enjoyed such iconic status in filmdom. Currently he is hogging the limelight for all the wrong reasons but despite the controversies surrounding him Amitabh is giving the young actors a run for their money. Be it television, endorsements, awards or films, he has superseded the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. Even his son Abhishek is not able to match his charismatic persona."I am a big fan of Amitabh. I have grown up seeing his films. He is literally 'my hero'. I first met Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'. On my first meeting I told him how happy I was to work with him but after that I was so overwhelmed that I couldn't express my happiness beyond that. What can I wish for him on his birthday - he is an icon, he has got everything," Kajol told IANS. Quite true. Of all the top actors, Amitabh had the maximum number of releases this year. While Salman had three, Shah Rukh one and Aamir Khan none, Amitabh had six releases in 2007.Though, most of the films, except "Shootout at Lokhandwala", bombed, it has not dissuaded the actor from experimenting with different roles under new directors who are making a beeline to sign him."I don't know if the audiences are ready or not for such films. From the box office results, perhaps not. But for me as an artiste it gave me tremendous creative satisfaction, on par with what I experienced in 'Black'," Amitabh said in a recent interview to IANS.His latest experiment was with Bengali director Rituparno Ghosh. He teamed up with Ghosh in his English film "The Last Lear", which is based on veteran Bengali actor Utpal Dutt's play "Aajker Shahjahan". It revolves around an aging Shakespearean actor who takes on one of the bard's most challenging roles. The film was well received at the Toronto Film Festival last month. Another experimental film by Amitabh, "Eklavya - The Royal Guard", is India's official entry for the Oscars this year. He also received the National Award for best actor from President Pratibha Patil last month for his role in "Black". His international career is flourishing too. He forays into Hollywood with US-based Indian filmmaker Mira Nair's "Shantaram". In the film the Big B will play underworld don Kadar Bhai and share screen space with Hollywood veteran Johnny Depp, who is also producing the crime thriller. Unlike many others, the Big B is not in awe of Hollywood and feels it is trying to destroy the local filmmaking culture in India. He said: "Hollywood, which has power and strength, has destroyed local film industry in Europe and Britain. Now they are coming to India. But we welcome competition."He also feels that there is nothing wrong with Indian films, which haven't been able to woo non-Indian audiences in the US. "Nothing is wrong with our cinema's sensibility or the fact that we have song-and-dance. Language is a barrier. It is the same with English films having a limited audience in India." He is currently busy shooting for Ravi Chopra's "Bhootnath". Apart from that he will be seen in Rumi Jaffery's "God Tussi Great Ho" and Ram Gopal Varma's "Sarkar Raj". He is also preparing for his first world tour with son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya. The Unforgettable Tour, a series of stage shows next year in 18 cities across the world, will also feature Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Bipasha Basu, Riteish Deshmukh and choreographer Shiamak Davar.

Director Rakesh Roshan says the villain's character in "Krrish 3" will be as powerful as Hrithik's character. "This time the anti-hero will be as powerful as the hero. See, 'Krrish' saw the birth of the superhero. Now we'll see the superhero combating other forces," Rakesh Roshan told IANS.In "Krrish", veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah had played the villain.Rakesh is currently busy creating his first production for an outside director."Our first production, which I won't direct, is a comedy that my assistant Raja Sen will direct. It's a comedy called 'Krazy 4' with four main characters played by Irrfan Khan, Arshad Warsi, Rajpal Yadav and Suresh Menon. Diya Mirza plays the female lead."Raja Sen has been with me for the last three years and assisted me in three films. Since I'm working on the third superhero film, I let him do this script. We'll finish Raja's film before I start mine. Any film that comes from my banner has to be equally competent.""Krrish 3" is presently in the scripting stage."I can't focus on more than one project at a time. Maybe that's my weakness. We're working on the script. The story has to be just right. The plot has to be inspiring. I've to get that gut feeling that the plot is right. The special effects aren't the main thing...the plot is. Until I'm happy with that I won't start 'Krissh 3'."Let's face it, we can't match 'Spiderman 3' in budget. But if they give 10 action scenes I'll do two with equal finesse. We've to out do them in content and count on Indian audiences being more interested in Hrithik than Tobey Maguire," the director said.Rakesh Roshan agrees "Dhoom 2" and "Krrish" have taken Hrithik far ahead of competition."Luckily, he had a big success outside the home production. So now people have stopped saying he's workable only with me. Of course, we will always work together. No director understands him better than me, and he knows it. Our three films together have built a track record for ourselves. I've just seen some photographs of 'Jodha-Akbar'. Hrithik is looking terrific."At home, grandson Hrehaan keeps Rakesh Roshan busy."Nothing gives me more pleasure than watching Hrithik and Hrehaan playing together. And since I've no movie on the floors right now I've all the time in the world to spend with him."We celebrated Hrehaan's first birthday recently. Seeing all those children in the house ... he was so surprised and delighted. I could see he was having a good time. Hrehaan is a very pleasant child."Asked whom Hrehaan resembled, he said: "Both his parents...actually more of his mother Susanne than Hrithik."He says that god has been very kind to him and his family."I'm not in competition with anyone. I just shut my eyes and ears to all the unhealthy competition in the industry. Nobody can make or break you. It's only your karma that guides your destiny."
Saif Ali Khan says he is not doing Karan Johar's next film due to genuine date problems and not because he is insecure about being in the same film as Abhishek Bachchan. "It is not because I'm insecure about being in the same picture as Abhishek for Christ's sake! As a matter of fact the little that I got to work with Abhishek in 'Salaam Namaste', I really enjoyed myself. I can see us having a ball on a film together. I'd love to do a full-fledged film with Abhishek any day," Saif told IANS.The yet untitled film is the directorial debut of Karan's assistant Tarun Mansukhani. Explaining why he could not take up Mansukhani's film, Saif said: "It's this look that I've to do in each of my current films. There's this beard that I've now for Abbas-Mustan's 'Race', which I'm shooting currently. "To my relief it goes off for Yash Raj Films' 'Tashan', which I start in a couple of days. But then I've another look for 'Tashan'. After that I change my appearance for Kunal Kohli's film. "In fact, the dates for Kunal's and Karan's films coincided. There was no way I could do both. And since I was committed to do Kunal's film beforehand, there was no way I could fit into Karan's film."As an afterthought, he added: "Maybe if Kunal's film didn't require a particular look I could've taken on Karan's film." So is 'the look' now an integral part of Saif's craft as an actor?"For want of a better word, yes. After 'Omkara' I've realised how important the physical appearance is for a character. Earlier in 'Hum Tum' I had the long-haired look for a part of the plot. That really added to my character. Now I'll do one film at a time so I can experiment with my looks."Saif said he would have loved to be part of Karan's film. "My loss entirely. It's always a pleasure to work with Karan. He's a dear friend since 'Kal Ho Naa Ho'. I'm sure there'll be other opportunities."
